
Second of two-part workshop that helps staff and volunteers communicate more effectively with individuals and families. The workshop consists of mini-lectures, interactive exercises, videotaped case studies and skill practice with peers to provide individuals with specific and efficient communication strategies that can be utilized to support client-centered care. The first part is scheduled for January 24.
Objectives, at the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Reflect on the role of the staff or volunteer as a facilitator of change

Identify strategies to assess an individual’s motivation & readiness for change using Motivational Interviewing techniques

Learn communication skills and techniques to deal with individual and families
Open to staff, volunteers, and the public. RSVP is required as space is limited, and a FREE lunch is also provided at this session.
