Volunteer Opportunities

Opportunities to volunteer are available in both our Residence and Community Programs. No matter which area you choose, your compassion and support will make a meaningful impact on the lives of Bethell Hospice residents, community clients and their families.

• • • • Administrative Support
        Administrative Volunteers provide support to various administrative roles within Bethell Hospice.

• • • • Gardening
        Gardening Volunteers help with the upkeep of the grounds, ensuring a peaceful and beautiful natural environment for our residents and visitors.

• • • • Grief & Bereavement Support
        Grief & Bereavement Support Volunteers work with our professional staff to offer support to those who have lost a loved one. Opportunities to work with adults, teens or children are available.

• • • • Kitchen
        Kitchen Volunteers welcome caregivers and visitors into the kitchen, often called the heart of the hospice, while preparing/heating up simple foods for our residents. They also prepare coffee, tea, and baked goods for the coffee station, and ensure safe food handling standards are met.

• • • • Maintenance
        Maintenance Volunteers assist with general maintenance tasks in the Bethell Hospice residence and the grounds.

• • • • Reception
        Reception Volunteers are the first point of contact for anyone arriving at Bethell Hospice. They greet and provide support to individuals, families and service providers as they visit, as well as operating the Bethell Hospice switchboard.

• • • • Resident Support
        Resident Support Volunteers actively contribute to the well-being of resident and their families, offering companionship and emotional support.

Community Program – Locations throughout Caledon & Brampton

• • • • Community Outreach & Awareness
        Community Outreach & Awareness Volunteers provide information and educational resources to local community groups, organizations and churches through speaking engagements.

• • • • Event Support for Community Fundraisers
        Community Fundraising Event Volunteers attend fundraising events in support of Bethell Hospice to assist event organizers. Opportunities include event registration, assisting with silent auctions, event set up, and many other event specific roles.

• • • • Grief & Bereavement Support
        Grief & Bereavement Support Volunteers work with our professional staff to offer support in a group setting to those who have lost a loved one. Opportunities to work with adults, teens or children are available.

• • • • In-Home Visiting
        In-Home Visiting Volunteers are specially trained to provide a reassuring presence, companionship and comfort both for palliative individuals receiving care at home and for their caregivers and family members. Additionally, volunteers can provide respite for caregivers who need a break from their caregiving. Volunteers generally spend 1-4 hours with clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

We also welcome qualified Holistic Therapy Practitioners to offer Complementary Therapies, both in our Bethell Hospice Residence and to our Community Clients.  A minimum of level 2 certification is required in Therapeutic Touch, Reflexology or Massage.
